H2 Kitchen + Bar at Westin Bayshore

By Charlotte Ahern (March 2026)

H2 Kitchen + Bar is a Coal Harbour restaurant at the Westin Bayshore Hotel, known for Southern-inspired dishes, a serious pit program, and a location just steps from the Vancouver Seawall.

Set within the hotel alongside H Tasting Lounge, the property’s seafood-led sister venue, H2 takes a more grounded, comfort-driven approach. Breakfast is served daily, with happy hour and dinner available from Wednesday to Sunday.

Vancouver’s H2 Kitchen + Bar in Coal Harbour

H2 Kitchen + Bar brings a laid-back, sociable energy to Coal Harbour. The restaurant pairs a lively dining room and garden-side patio with slow-smoked meats, rotisserie favourites, and strong cocktails.

Just moments from Stanley Park, H2 Kitchen delivers elevated comfort food with a menu centred on rotisserie chicken, Southern barbecue, and locally sourced ingredients.

Discover the Westin Bayshore Hotel and its restaurants on the official Westin, H2 Kitchen + Bar, and H Tasting Lounge websites.

Design & Aesthetic

H2 Kitchen + Bar feels bright, modern, and well-finished without losing its relaxed appeal. Set in the centre of the Westin Bayshore Hotel, H2’s large windows flood the space with light, while views over the hotel’s outdoor pool give it an easy resort feel. In summer, the greenery on the terrace outside gives the space an almost tropical feel.

Just steps from the seawall, H2 blends barbecue comfort and bourbon-led drinks into one easy downtown package

Sister On-Site: H Tasting Lounge

The Westin Bayshore is also home to H Tasting Lounge, H2’s sleek sister venue.

Where H2 leans into smokehouse comfort and easygoing energy, H Tasting Lounge moves in a more refined direction, with a design-forward space and a stronger focus on seafood.

H Tasting Lounge is also where the hotel’s seasonal domed dining experiences, including Winterlust and Secret Garden, take shape. These private outdoor settings pair heated enclosures with themed menus and a more immersive, occasion-driven feel.

Tip: Book the domes early. They are highly sought after and tend to fill up well in advance.

Menu Highlights

A key part of H2’s identity is its Southern-inspired pit program, the restaurant’s smoker-led barbecue offering. In practice, that means low-and-slow-cooked meats like brisket and ribs, rather than any underground cooking style.

Expect favourites like beef brisket, pulled pork, St. Louis ribs, and the restaurant’s signature rotisserie chicken, alongside classic sides like mac and cheese, BBQ beans, and waffle fries.

Formerly known as H2 Rotisserie, the restaurant has since expanded into a broader barbecue-led concept. Burgers and rotisserie chicken still hold their place, but the menu now stretches further into Southern comfort-style dishes.

At the time of writing, dinner runs from Wednesday to Sunday, when the full pit lineup takes centre stage. The brisket and ribs are standout dishes, especially with house sauces like hot honey and Alabama white. For groups, the Smokehouse Platter ($175) is a strong shareable centrepiece.

Breakfast & Brunch

Breakfast is offered daily, with a menu ranging from lighter Eat Well options to pancakes and other familiar hearty staples. Portions are generous and hotel-style, and on weekends the restaurant typically offers both buffet breakfast service and a la carte dishes.

H2 Kitchen + Bar Drinks Program

The drinks program at H2 Kitchen + Bar leans Southern in spirit, with nine house cocktails built around flavours like black tea, peach, vanilla, and citrus.

There are also zero-proof options, a strong draft beer selection, and an extensive back bar spanning bourbon, rye, whisky, tequila, and mezcal. Beyond the signatures, the wine list stays BC-forward while featuring a mix of familiar classic labels.

Happy Hour & Sunday Supper

At the time of writing, H2 Kitchen + Bar offers a Sunday Supper Series that is a strong-value option at $40 for three courses. The set menu includes dishes like corn chowder to start, BBQ hen for the main, and banana pudding for dessert. Recommended wine pairings are also available at half price, with pairings priced at $37.

Happy hour runs daily from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with $5 beer and reduced pricing on dishes like wings, sliders, fries, and nachos. It is better suited to a casual bite than a full smokehouse spread, but it works well for drinks and snacks.

Tip: Start with happy hour at H2 Kitchen + Bar, then head out for an evening walk along the seawall. It is an easy Coal Harbour combination.

Vegan & Vegetarian Menu Options

Breakfast offers the strongest coverage for vegan and vegetarian diners, while dinner stays firmly centred on the restaurant’s meat-led smokehouse identity. There are still a few workable choices, including an Impossible Burger, salads, and sides, but vegan guests in particular may want to plan ahead.

Southern-inspired comfort food and a resort-like backdrop give H2 a lane of its own in downtown Vancouver

Pricing & Dining Details

H2 Kitchen + Bar sits firmly in the $$$ range. At the time of writing, breakfast mains are generally priced in the mid-$20s, while dinner pricing reflects the premium proteins and time-intensive smoking process behind the menu.

Coal Harbour feels calm and refined, and the area’s waterfront setting adds to the appeal. There is metered street parking nearby if guests are happy to walk a block or two, and the hotel also offers valet parking.

Reservations for both H2 Kitchen + Bar and H Tasting Lounge can be made through their official websites.

Service & Atmosphere

Service at H2 Kitchen + Bar carries the attentive, efficient feel expected from one of downtown Vancouver’s higher-end hotels. Staff are well-versed in both the pit menu and the drinks program, and can confidently guide guests through the key dishes and pairings.

Weekends, especially in summer, are when the restaurant feels most alive. Live music, sunset light, and a more animated crowd give the space its best energy.

For live music dates and upcoming events, check H2’s website.

The Westin Bayshore regularly rolls out seasonal events, special menus, and limited-time dining experiences like their Winnie the Pooh Tea and the Secret Garden Domes. Check the hotel’s website for current offerings, including Easter Brunch and Mother’s Day buffets.

Who Is the Restaurant for?

H2 Kitchen + Bar suits a mix of date-night diners, seawall regulars, hotel guests, and travellers looking for something relaxed yet still slightly upmarket. It also works well for diners after a casual Coal Harbour setting without giving up atmosphere, strong service, or a stylish hotel backdrop.

Why H2 Kitchen + Bar Earns Its Place on VBR

H2 Kitchen + Bar does something not many downtown hotel restaurants pull off: having a real identity beyond the setting. In this case, that identity is smokehouse-led, Southern-leaning, and built around a pit program that gives the menu character. The brisket, ribs, and rotisserie chicken are the clearest proof of that.

The rest of the experience helps seal it. A lovely courtyard patio, live music in the warmer months, a dependable happy hour, and a strong bourbon selection give H2 a broader appeal than the food alone.

For a casual meal in Coal Harbour, it is one of the more distinctive options in the downtown core.

Similar Restaurants in Vancouver

There are not many true Southern-leaning, elevated smokehouse restaurants in Vancouver, which gives H2 Kitchen + Bar a fairly distinct lane.

For a similarly meat-forward atmosphere with more of a rooftop city feel, The Roof at Black+Blue is one of the closest high-end comparisons.

For something more directly aligned with H2’s barbecue-and-bourbon side, Whiskey Six BBQ and Devil’s Elbow Ale & Smokehouse are the stronger stylistic matches, although both lean more casual.

For a glossier, seafood-led alternative at the same hotel, H Tasting Lounge is the obvious choice. It works well as a pre- or post-dinner stop, and its seasonal domed dining adds a more occasion-driven option.
