Pier 7: Waterfront Dining in North Vancouver

The dining room at Pier 7 is bright and modern. Think West Coast minimal chic. It’s a restaurant built around the view, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame downtown Vancouver, and at night, the city lights steal the show.

The restaurant has two levels, with the main action happening on the lower floor. Upstairs is typically reservable for private events. Pier 7’s outdoor terraces on both levels seem about the same size as the indoor space.

The lower-level patio is the place to be when the sun shines and sets. Featuring glass wind protection, sunshades and heaters, with seating up and close to the water’s edge. It’s idyllic to sit out there with a glass of wine while watching the ocean.

Inside, there’s a long bar and seating that feels arranged around the window views. Overall, the restaurant feels upscale but flexible.

Menu Highlights

West Coast seafood takes centre stage on Pier 7’s menu, featuring bright, fresh plates and a few meat options providing balance.

Think oysters on ice and Instagram-ready seafood towers. Highlights include the signature clam chowder, cod and chips, and tiger prawns. Brunch standouts include seafood bennies, waffles and hearty classic benedicts that pair well with a mimosa. Other favourites include mussels in white wine sauce, creamy burrata, and blackened salmon.

The dessert line-up is classic with chocolate lava cake, tiramisu, and New York cheesecake.

Tip: Share a few small plates on the patio during golden hour with a bottle of wine. Seeing the daylight fade into the bright cityscape at night is the best way to experience the restaurant.

Ocean Wise & Dietary Options

Pier 7 highlights that all their seafood offerings are Ocean Wise, meaning they were sustainably caught. The restaurant also has a range of gluten-free options. However, for vegan requirements, there are limited choices.

Drinks at Pier 7 Restaurant + Bar

The restaurant offers a selection of craft cocktails, including zero-proof options and a comprehensive wine program. There are bottles of wine across all budgets, from accessible options to premium wines and champagnes well into the hundreds. A Bellini or an Aperol spritz on the patio is always very persuasive when the sun is out.

Happy Hour & Offers

At the time of writing, Pier 7’s oceanfront Happy Hour runs daily from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, offering small plates and drinks for $5 and up. Wine Wednesdays are equally as enticing when the restaurant offers bottles under $120 for 50% off.

There’s also a three-course set menu for $49 on select days, excluding weekends, which is a smart way to try the restaurant without creating a large tab.

Ocean-to-table seafood and relaxed hospitality define the Pier 7 experience.

Pricing & Dining Details

Pier 7’s price point sits firmly in the $$$ range. Brunch plates are priced around $25, and dinner mains average at around $30. Offers like happy hour and the $49 set menu make the restaurant more accessible.

Reservations are recommended via OpenTable, especially for patio seating. The restaurant is a popular venue on weekends and warm nights.

Parking isn’t right at the door as the restaurant is in a pedestrianised area, but there are multiple parkades around the Shipyards district within a five-minute stroll.

Tip: Guests visiting the restaurant from Downtown Vancouver may consider taking the SeaBus over to Lonsdale Quay. This way avoids lengthy traffic on the city’s connecting bridges.

Service & Atmosphere

In summer, Pier 7 often hosts live music evenings, adding a relaxed, enjoyable layer to the dining experience. Check the restaurant’s website for the current schedule.

Service during our visit was attentive and professional. Staff kept the room moving smoothly while guests lingered over drinks and enjoyed the waterfront views.
